We are headed towards a future where taking care of the environment is primordial in every activity that we carry out because we consider that the economy and the protection of resources should go hand in hand.

At AOM we put all our focus on improving our processes and making sure they move toward energy and resource efficiency, and less environmental incidence. We strive day by day to make sure that everyone, from our workers to our providers, has a better quality of life and along with that, better quality production.

Additionally, we adhere to the principles laid out in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) to ensure corporate sustainability.

Resource Efficiency

AOM’s industrial activity is based on the recovery and use of by-products originating in the basic food industry, such as edible oils.

Starting from a by-product (DOD – Deodorized Distillates) produced in one of the stages of the refining process of vegetable oils, called deodorization, at AOM we extract two molecules of great value for the industry. Tocopherols and Sterols are outstanding ingredients that provide nutritional values and technical solutions for the food, cosmetic, pet food and pharmaceutical industries.

We optimize the use of resources, to be able to increment the shelf life of foods, cosmetics, pet foods and other products with natural solutions, without generating toxic residues in the environment.

Technological Process

We strive to maintain the purity of our raw materials and elevate the quality standards in our industry. The very limited number of factories capable of extracting these products worldwide indicates the degree of complexity of the production processes, and the need to be in constant research and development to improve them.

Raw Materials

Not a single square meter of crops is planted for the purpose of obtaining our basic raw material (DOD).
We upcycled that DOD generated in a vital industry for human beings, such as vegetable oils, to grant it a superior use.
We extract from this DOD the most relevant molecules, Tocopherols and Sterols, highly appreciated in sectors such as Food, Supplements, Pet Food and Cosmetics.
We only use natural, bio-based raw materials

Energy

In our first stage of investment, 20% of the energy used in the Valencia plant comes from renewable sources and we will continue to bet on increasing this ratio for the next stages.

Carbon

We are the only company in the industry that has two processing plants, which allows us to centralize raw materials by proximity.

This makes it possible to reduce the kms needed for transport by more than 50% and obtain products with a lower carbon footprint.

Sustainable value chain

We are working on having a transparent and traceable value chain, based on sustainability criteria of social and environmental performance to choose our suppliers, seeking to prioritize those that have 100% deforestation-free value chains.

Certifications and Registrations

Basing our work on a recycling process, where we upcycle a subproduct called DOD (Deodorization by Distillment) produced during the refinement of edible vegetable oils, we extract the greatest amount of the purest Tocopherol and Phytosterol possible to use in products from the: food, cosmetics, animal feed and pharmaceuticals.
